Python cosh – Find Hyperbolic Cosine of Number Using math.cosh()

To find the hyperbolic cosine of a number, we can use the Python cosh() function from the math module.

import math

math.cosh(x)

In Python, we can easily use trigonometric functions with the Python math module. The Python math module allows us to perform trigonometry easily and in addition to regular trigonometry, we have access to the hyperbolic trigonometry functions.

With the Python math module, we can find the hyperbolic cosine of a number easily.

To find the hyperbolic cosine of a number, we can use the Python cosh() function from the math module.

Below is the Python syntax to find the hyperbolic cosine of a number.

import math

math.cosh(x)

The input to the cosh() function must be a numeric value. The return value will be a numeric value greater than or equal to 1.

import math

print(math.cosh(100))
print(math.cosh(0))
print(math.cosh(-50))

#Output: 
1.3440585709080678e+43
1.0
2.592352764293536e+21

Finding the Inverse Hyperbolic Cosine of a Number in Python

The Python math module also provides us trigonometric functions to find the inverses of the common trigonometric functions. The acosh() function allows us to find the inverse of the hyperbolic cosine of a number.

Below, we show that if we pass a number to cosh() and then call the Python acosh() function, we get back the same number.

import math

print(math.cosh(math.cosh(10)))

#Output: 
10.0
