Python asin – Find Arcsine and Inverse Sine of Number Using math.asin()

To find the arcsine, or inverse sine, of a number, we can use the Python asin() function from the math module.

import math

math.asin(x)

In Python, we can easily use trigonometric functions with the Python math module. The Python math module allows us to perform trigonometry easily.

With the Python math module, we can find the arcsine of a number easily.

To find the arcsine of a number, we use the math asin() function.

Below is the Python syntax to find the inverse sine of a number.

import math

math.asin(x)

The input to the asin() function must be a numeric value between -1 and 1. The return value will be a numeric value between -pi/2 and pi/2 radians.

import math

print(math.asin(0.5))
print(math.asin(0))
print(math.asin(-0.75))

#Output: 
0.5235987755982989
0.0
-0.848062078981481

Finding the Inverse Sine of a Number in Python

Arcsine is defined as the inverse of the sine of a number.

Below, we show that if we pass a number to sin() and then call the Python asin() function, we get back the same number.

import math

print(math.asin(math.sin(math.pi/3)))
print(math.pi/3)

#Output: 
1.0471975511965976
1.0471975511965976
